Nick Cave and his longtime collaborator Warren Ellis will score Mars, a Ron Howard-produced National Geographic miniseries, Pitchfork reports. Today, they share “Mars Theme,” a short piece featuring ominous synths and vocals from Cave.
Mars, which tells the fictional story of a crew of astronauts traversing the Red Planet in year 2033, debuts on National Geographic on November 14. In their film scores and with the Bad Seeds and Dirty Three, Cave and Ellis are masters at conjuring scorched and barren landscapes in sound, so they’re a natural fit for the project.
