Lauryn Hill was among an all-star lineup of performers at the second annual TIDAL X charity concert, which took place last night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Following the show, Hill shared a new, more complex version of “I Find It Hard to Say (Rebel),” a song about the shooting of Amadou Diallo from her 2002 album MTV Unplugged No. 2.o.
“Old tune, new Version, same context, even more relevant now: sick and tired of being sick and tired,” Hill tweeted alongside a link to the updated “Rebel.” The new song is currently a TIDAL streaming exclusive; subscribers can listen to the updated “Rebel” below, and compare it to the original (via Fader).
Nicki Minaj also performed at last night’s concert, where she slammed Donald and Melania Trump on stage. Behind the scenes, Minaj was thrilled to meet Hill for the first time. The two women posed for photos together and Minaj even bowed down in admiration.
